A private wine tasting in Dallas can be one of two things: a genuinely great night where you actually learn something, or a brand rep pouring you four wines they need to move. Here's how to make sure you get the first one — and what to ask before you book.
5 questions to ask before you book
- Who's actually leading it? You want a working sommelier, not a distributor rep. A somm teaches you how to taste; a rep teaches you what to buy. (We're the first kind.)
- How many wines, and who picks them? Five is the sweet spot — enough to learn, not enough to blur. And the list should be curated for your group, not pulled from a warehouse special.
- What's included? Glassware, games, scorecards, prizes, setup, teardown. If you're renting glasses separately, keep shopping.
- How long is the night? About three hours is right for a full hosted night — enough for five wines, three games, and the stories behind every pour.
- Who picks the wine? Every Cork & Comfort night comes with our Curated and Tailored Wine List — built around your group, your tastes, and the night's theme. No wine homework on your end.
What a good night looks like
Your somm arrives early and sets up. Guests get scorecards and a first pour. Each wine comes with its story — the region, the grape, why it tastes like that — plus a blind round where everyone guesses and the winner takes a prize. Music's on, nobody's taking notes unless they want to. You will, without trying, learn how to actually taste wine: what tannin feels like, why acidity matters, the difference a region makes on the same grape.
Dallas logistics
We serve the full DFW metroplex — Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, the mid-cities, and South Oklahoma. All we need is a table and room for your guests. Apartments, houses, patios, offices, Airbnbs — if people can stand around a table, we can run a tasting there.
Ready when you are
